Labrador Retrievers are one of the most popular breeds in the US, so it is no surprise that there are so many more labs to rescue than other breeds. Foster homes are the most important part of our rescue, without foster homes we aren't able to operate. The more foster homes we have, the more labs we can save.
Becoming a foster parent is extremely rewarding. By fostering, you're saving more than one life; you are saving two. The first one by allowing us to pull the Lab from the shelter and the second by removing the first from the shelter, that cage has opened up for another dog in need. Once your Lab finds a loving family, you can open your home to another rescue that desperately needs it.
To become a foster parent for NOLA Labrador Retriever Rescue, you need to be willing to love, honor and cherish your foster dog; be willing to accept lots of love and wet kisses; and have the patience and commitment to be able to deal with some "mistakes".
Dogs never “run out of time” and it may take anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of months to find their perfect new home. We will supply all the vet care and are always available to help should you have questions or concerns.
Most people are scared to foster in fear of becoming “too attached”. You will get attached; you wouldn't have a heart if you did not. What makes it worthwhile is knowing that because of you, that lab is alive and thriving in a forever home.
If you' ve decided that fostering a Lab for NOLA Lab Rescue is something you can do, please fill out the foster application and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
